I like this bit from the

I like this bit from the "technical PDF"

"Each radio meter emits a signal every 12.5 seconds.".  Ah and 500ms I thought my timing was off !

A RF reciever a quite RF room and a Logic analyzer will get you started.

Same as the unit listed here: http://www.greenenergyoptions.co.uk/what-we-do/products/water-ensemble/

Try this

If you have the parts then maybe this thread could be your answer...

Putting the software into debug mode always gave me a lot! of 868 traffic, but decoding it is always the issue ;)

well not the norm?

Contacted a couple (several) companies and Have received a very polite reply email from a few so far and the basic content is.

we acknowledge that "home brewers" are in the minority but we also acknowledge they can provide us with a very positive line of extension forward.

we were not aware of the HAH project prior to your email it looks very intresting and along with the other links you have provided we have now forwarded it to our technical department.

the other links i provided were :- HAH, my solar pv provider, my history as a tester, my cosm+feeds and my commitment to being green.

I personally think "Derek and Brett" please agree is, at the out set we may get "tester" certification and possibly a replacement via their feed for Cosm/pachube etc for our current members. as it does look very good (one feedback provider)

what we "may" get as a group or indivduals is to test their products for free. ( what we enjoy doing-playing :) ).

Derek/Brett i hope you would get "special recognision" and if i am going down totally the wrong path let me know.

I do NOT want HAH to go commercial personally but if you two can earn some money from it then you deserve to! as i can anticipate you are probably the best 2 "guru's" in these 2 countries regarding Home automation and monitoring/HAH (and the most committed) this was also commented on, in that "we seemed" as an amateur group with reliability light years ahead of them both technologically wise and what people actually wanted (part of another email received back).

The rest of the emails basically said they want to work with "home brewers" and it was above the sales guy's head technically but they seriously belived the tech department would be in contact with me shortly.

I also did offer, should they want me to test their products and willing to sign a NDA.

I trust that my motives are good for all of you, I have an 8 year old and i want this green and plesant land/earth to remain that way for her and future generations. HAH etc and any way we realize and can reduce our carbon footprint is a great way forward!

The HAH project is a major way forward for this, i may not be a programmer but i seriously belive in this project.

It kinda falls out of the sky

Dean,

Appreciate all the thoughts.

I'm mostly based in a city where nobody has ever heard of a water meter. No household has such a device. It always just continually rains and the Victorian folks sorted out a truly awesome infrastructure and inexhaustible supply chain  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loch_Katrine

However, antipodean Brett will know the true cost of such a resource.

Chatted with him yesterday re the pachube/cosm/newname issue. Very early on this, but I sense a decent (and potentially slightly radical) way ahead.

Over the years, we've had passing interest from a few 'commercial' outfits (pachube included). Yet the tiny funds raised via the HAH 'shop' in the last three years wouldn't cover a single day of dayjob billing for either of us. It's firmly a labour of love.

If you can find anybody with a decent business model and lots of spare cash, do let us know. If nothing else, we can offer 'follow the sun' support :-)

I forgot just how much it

I forgot just how much it does not rain here (in Australia) during Summer its just constant blue skys and sunshine.  Which makes me wonder why more people aren't concerned about how much water they use.  I certainly am at the end of each quarter when I get my bill !  Water is expense here.  Damn expensive.

For example: You're first 30kL its $2.42 a kL after that its $3.45 a kL litre plus a separate Sewerage charge on top based on the cost of your house.   I guess they figure if you have a nice house you must have gold plated turds or something so they charge you accordingly to take them away.

I forget how much it was in London but I'm pretty sure I was never scared of getting my water bill.  From memory it was a fix fee for unlimited usage (simply unheard of here).

Which reminders me I need to install another rainwater tank (a frigin big water butt for you UK folk).
